Late frost causes Michigan crop losses
KALAMAZOO, Mich., May 04, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Michigan state agriculture officials said a late frost has damaged this year's crops of blueberry, grape, apple and peaches, the Kalamazoo Gazette said Tuesday.
Michigan State University Extension Horticultural and Marketing Agent Mark Longstroth said in some parts of southwest Michigan, temperatures before dawn Monday fell as low as 24 degrees.
"Grapes were the biggest concern -- they'll be hurt by temperatures below 30," he said. |
